SkillsFuture Credits are a key part of Singapore's national upskilling ecosystem. Every Singaporean aged 25 and above receives an initial credit top-up of S$500, with additional top-ups announced during national Budgets. As of 2025, the government has disbursed a one-time S$4,000 top-up (the SkillsFuture Credit Top-Up 2025) to Singaporeans aged 40 to 60. Yet many users have told LitSG they struggle to find their current balance or do not know how to verify what is available. This guide explains exactly how to check your SkillsFuture Credit balance using the official channels: the MySkillsFuture portal, the Singpass app, the SkillsFuture mobile app, and via CPF Board enquiries.

Knowing your balance is essential before you sign up for any course. Without checking, you might assume you have credits when you do not, or you may miss out on a top-up that has already been deposited. The process takes only a few minutes and can be done from a smartphone or a computer. Below is the full breakdown.

What Are SkillsFuture Credits?

SkillsFuture Credits are a government-funded training allowance for Singaporeans. The system was launched in 2016 as part of the SkillsFuture national movement. Every eligible Singaporean aged 25 and older receives an initial S$500 credit. These credits do not expire, they roll over indefinitely, but they can only be used for approved courses listed on the MySkillsFuture portal.

In February 2023, during Budget 2023, then-Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong announced a one-time S$4,000 top-up for Singaporeans aged 40 to 60. This is called the SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy. It is credited separately from the original S$500, and it also does not expire. However, it can only be used for courses on the MySkillsFuture portal that are part of the list of approved training providers.

Separately, there is the SkillsFuture Credit (UTAP) for NTUC members, which provides an additional S$500 per year for courses under the Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP). This is not part of the government's main SkillsFuture Credit but is still worth checking if you are a union member.

Knowing the difference between these pools is important because your balance might show more than one entry when you check online.

Which Balance Should You Check?

When you log in to check your SkillsFuture Credit, you might see multiple balances. Here is what each one means:

  • SkillsFuture Credit (Basic), The original S$500 given to all eligible Singaporeans aged 25 and above. Any unused portion remains.
  • SkillsFuture Credit (Mid-Career Top-Up), The S$4,000 top-up given to Singaporeans aged 40 to 60. This is credited separately from the basic credit.
  • SkillsFuture Credit (Additional Top-Up), Any further top-ups announced in future Budgets. As of 2025, there is no new top-up after the Mid-Career Top-Up, but this may change.
  • UTAP (NTUC members only), Up to S$500 per year for eligible union members. This is not shown on the default SkillsFuture portal but can be checked via the NTUC LearningHub or the UTAP portal.

If you are not sure which balance applies to you, the easiest method is to check all your SkillsFuture Credit entries on the MySkillsFuture portal using your Singpass.
